It’s a close shave for MK Lightning as they star in Bluebeards shaving commercial

The Milton Keynes Lightning can now add the title of the UK’s best-groomed ice hockey team to its growing list of achievements after starring in a shaving TV commercial for a leading men’s grooming brand.

The English Premier League’s most successful club play the lead role in a ‘Train Hard Shave Easy’ advert for The Bluebeards Revenge.

The stylish commercial sees a mystery intruder infiltrating a training session, thwarting the Lightning defence and scoring past Alex Mettam. It ends with the mystery blonde giving MK player-coach Nick Poole a very close shave using the brand’s luxury shaving products.

Nick Gibbens, PR and Marketing Manager for The Bluebeards Revenge, expressed his delight with the finished product.

“We’ve invested a lot of time and effort looking for and researching the right sports team to star in our ‘Train Hard Shave Easy’ commercial and the MK Lightning were at the top of this list.

“Ice Hockey is not only a tough and manly sport, its also one of the fastest-growing participation sports in England. It fits absolutely with The Bluebeards Revenge brand.”

MK Lightning’s Nick Poole said the team had enjoyed filming the advert, saying “It was great to get the Bluebeards Revenge team in to film the advert during one of our training sessions – we all had a lot of fun. In fact, the only problem we had was getting Alex Mettam to actually let a shot past and into goal – that took a few takes!

The commercial will initially launch on The Bluebeards Revenge’s popular Youtube channel and then be released onto the TV in 2012.

The Bluebeards Revenge, dubbed the ‘world’s manliest grooming range’, agreed a major one-year contract to become the MK Lightning’s new helmet sponsor and ‘official partner’ in September.

The name and logo of the iconic Bluebeards Revenge brand will now proudly appear on the MK Lightning’s helmets throughout the 2011/12 season.

Britain’s Manliest Cyclist – Now with added Manliness

Richard Carus, voted Britain’s Manliest Cyclist in a national poll, is now looking even more manly with his new Bluebeards Revenge jersey.

Richard, social media expert at Chalk and Ward Advertising, won the ‘Britain’s Manliest Cyclist’ crown back in August 2011, beating of a number of other rugged cyclists from across the UK. The manly man will now be the face of The Bluebeards Revenge in the cycling world and star in an infamous ‘Train Hard, Shave Easy’ commercial. The dedicated cyclist is also putting his body on the line over the next year, taking part in cyclosportives and running the Plymouth 10k run. In doing this we only thought it fair that he needed a Bluebeards Jersey to add to his undoubted manliness.

As ‘Britain’s Manliest Cyclist’, Richard is taking part in the 2012 London to Paris bike ride from April 18th to the 22nd in aid of Rowcroft Hospice. The London to Paris charity cycle is a great experience and the ultimate challenge. Cycling over 5 days, Richard will cover almost 500 Kilometres. A challenge like this is not only about the distance covered but also about group effort, friendship and most importantly spirit.

Plymouth student produces Bluebeards Revenge ‘extreme’ TV commercial

A talented student from Plymouth University has directed and produced a TV style commercial for The Bluebeards Revenge.

Simon Maurer filmed the excellent video as part of a University project, where he had to work with a commercial partner to produce an eye-catching advert that would be suitable for the TV.

His video forms part of our ‘Train Hard Shave Easy’ online advertising campaign, and features two young actors, one who takes part in extreme sports like rock climbing and mountain-boarding, and another who has a shave with The Bluebeards Revenge.

Simon, who studies Media Arts at Plymouth University, said he was pleased with the finished product, adding that he had enjoyed the experience.

“I really enjoyed producing an advert for The Bluebeards Revenge. It was a nice experience for me and of course I have learned a lot. I like the fact that BBR is extreme and different than the normal shaving brands,” he explained.

”Of course as a student I am not a professional, nevertheless it was a nice experience to work with a professional company. I think the finish advert fits with the brand, even if it could be nicer visually, but I think the message is strong. Simon’s creative video takes inspiration from our professionally executed ‘Train Hard Shave Easy’ boxing themed commercial (produced by Mark Hatton).

This stars rugby player Sacha Harding, who became the face of The Bluebeards Revenge following our high-profile national campaign to find Britain’s ‘Manliest Man.

The tongue in-cheek film short shows Sacha finishing a training session in the boxing ring, where two bikini-clad beauties try to distract him from a post-training shave. The black-and- white ad ends with an unexpected twist, which you can see for yourself at: http://youtu.be/0bLlslwWPxg.

Calling all up and coming film producers

Could you create a spoof TV advert, news item, piece of artwork or perhaps an “Infomercial” and load it up to Bluebeards TV?

There are no real rules – be as creative and insubordinate as you like. All we ask is that you incorporate The Bluebeards Revenge concept, logo and “couldn’t give a flying fig” and “cobblers to the lot of you meddling sonsabitches!” approach to life.

Britain’s manliest man’s debut TV commercial & photoshoot

The recent debate over the Sky Sports scandal throws up the question, what does it mean to be masculine in today’s society? With the swift resolution of the media issue in question it would appear that, thankfully, outdated prejudices are out, and inclusive personalities are in. But, attitudes aside, what should a manly man look like?

Step forward, Sacha Harding.

Sacha, 27, recently was awarded the title of ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’ after over 250,000 people voted that his boxer’s jawline, and 6’3” toned torso was the perfect masculine physique. Which is useful, as Sacha needs every ounce of strength for his day job of professional rugby player, where he plays for Bedford Blues Rugby Club.

Sacha’s journey to becoming ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’ is unusual, to say the least.

Last year, premium shaving cream, The Bluebeards Revenge put together a photofit of the most rugged elements of the World’s most alpha-males, creating the following face:

This face, termed ‘Bradiel Buthney’, combines the hair of George Clooney, the nose of Brad Pitt, the eyes of Gerard Butler, the chin of Jason Statham, and the body of Daniel Craig.

The shaving cream asked for any men who resembled this character to email their photo in, with the top eight being chosen and voted for by the public. Over one million votes were cast, with Sacha coming out on top, crowning him ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’, and making him the face of The Bluebeards Revenge.

This week, Sacha’s debut photoshoot took place in a boxing gym, and the first-look pics reveal that he is the rightful winner of the title of ‘Britain’s Manliest Man’.
