Simon Thorne, one of eight men shortlisted in the hunt to find the face of our unique shaving cream, has given an interview to the Wigan Evening Post.
The 36-year-old, who is in the running to be crowned Britain’s manliest man, told the newspaper: “I’m just a regular guy and I couldn’t believe it when I got the call from the Bluebeards Revenge people saying I was shortlisted to the final of this competition.
“However, I love a challenge and so went along to the photoshoot and had a really good time.”
Simon, who lives in Bolton, works for Wigan-based property company, Yarrow Properties Ltd.
He has three daughters and was entered into the competition by his wife after she saw an article about the manhunt in the Daily Express.
The 36-year-old added: “My wife told me she had entered me and we thought nothing of it, but when they rang to say I had got through, I thought it was all a bit surreal.
“I was really nervous on the drive to the shoot, as I hadn’t really done anything like this before.
“But the other seven finalists were all great guys too, and we all helped each other through it.
“One of the things that attracted me to the brand was they give away a donation of every tub of The Bluebeards Revenge to fire-fighter charities.
“Having seen how genuinely heroic the guys at the Greater Manchester Fire Service are, it would be great to help raise funds for them when they get injured whilst saving lives.”
If Simon, from Stoneclough, wins the public vote, not only will he take part in photoshoots and TV ads, he will also shave in a host of extreme masculine locations, including a lion’s den and while skydiving.
