Britain’s Best Wet Shave is back for a fourth year and the search to crown the 2018 champion has begun!

Since its inception in 2013, the Britain’s Best Wet Shave competition has become an industry-leading event. It invites barbers to demonstrate their skills with a cut-throat razor and rise to the top of the barbering trade.

From today, wet shaving barbers currently practicing their trade in Britain are encouraged to enter the 2018 heats by filling out this form.

The contest begins with 12 regional heats that are hosted in Salon Services stores all over the country. These highly competitive heats will be judged by an expert panel of award-winning barbers who have mastered the art of shaving themselves.

After the heats, the judges will have the tough job of choosing the best seven barbers to progress to the national final, which takes place at Barber UK on May 20, 2018. Here, the finalists will join last year’s champion – Elvis Gjokaj – inside the competition’s iconic boxing ring to battle it out for the coveted title.

Last year’s Britain’s Best Wet Shave winner Elvis Gjokaj demonstrates his shaving prowess.

“This is one of the most prestigious competitions in the barbering industry,” said Elvis, who works in Alley Barbers in Epsom. “I’m excited for the 2018 final and welcome the challenge of defending my crown,” added the 35-year-old.

The winner of the national final will receive an incredible prize that includes £500 worth of barbershop-quality products from The Bluebeards Revenge, a professional promo video highlighting their shaving skills, and the coveted Britain’s Best Wet Shave title.

Research from the competition’s sponsors, the British Barbers’ Association and The Bluebeards Revenge, shows there are now an estimated 14,502 barbershops in Britain, with 5,476 (38% of total) of these offering cut-throat shaving services to their male clients. In August 2012 there were 14,100 barbershops in existence, with just 3,384 (24% of total) providing cut-throat shaving.

Trevor Studd, director of the British Barbers’ Association, suggested that the ever-flourishing trend for men’s grooming was showing no signs of slowing down.

He said: “Men are looking after themselves a lot more and have finally realised that the barber or a dedicated male grooming operation is the best place to go to get a decent haircut. There is also rising demand for hot towel shaves and beard trims, and barbers have fully tapped into offering these types of services.”

The deadline for entries to Britain’s Best Wet Shave 2018 is 31/01/2018.
