After months of eager anticipation, Britain’s best wet shaving barber has finally been crowned – and to top off a successful month, winner Luigi Caterino has also now been named as the latest ambassador for The Bluebeards Revenge.
Luigi, who originally comes from Italy and runs the Italian Job barbershop in Galashiels, Scotland, beat off razor-sharp competition from some of the UK’s top barbers to win the coveted Best Shave title, in an event that took place at the first ever Barber UK in Birmingham on May 10.
The barber faced seven other regional winners from across the UK to make the grand final, impressing industry renowned judges Gary Machin, Patrick Brien and Garath Clark with his impeccable skills and proving that he really is a cut above the rest.
The drama unfolded inside a boxing ring at the Birmingham NEC event, with swarms of people turning out to watch the live action. The competition, run by the British Barbers’ Association and premium men’s grooming brand The Bluebeards Revenge, saw the eight guys battling it out in a round of quarter finals, with Luigi progressing on to the semis along with South East champion Elvis Gjokaj, Midlands winner Shakar Bakani, and defending overall champion, Parsa Rad.
The nail-biting final itself saw 2014 finalist Shakar make an admirable attempt for the title, but he was unable to hold his own against Scotland’s Luigi, who eventually reigned triumphant.
As if the one victory wasn’t enough, Luigi has since been enlisted as the official barber for Rangers Football Club – a dream come true for the barber, who has been a keen supporter since moving to the UK some fourteen years ago.
To celebrate his new position, he visited Rangers home ground Murray Park last wednesday, where he whipped members of the first team – including Haris Vuckic – into shape by giving them the benefit of his wet shaving skills.
But it didn’t end there for Luigi, as to round off a run of extraordinarily good fortune, he will also now be climbing on board as a Bluebeards ambassador.
Speaking of a momentous couple of weeks in his career, Luigi said: “I’m still speechless, to be honest. Winning Best Shave was a dream come true, and what’s happened since has changed my life. Not only do I have the title and a belt to prove it, but I get to shave the Rangers and work with The Bluebeards Revenge – it doesn’t get much better for a barber than that!”
We’re stoked to have him flying the flag for the Bluebeards, and wish Luigi a huge congratulations for his epic achievements. Here’s to many more!
