How to look younger

It’s easy to pretend you can take growing old gracefully in your stride, but when those first grey hairs begin to make an appearance, it’s likely your bravado will go straight out the window.

Feeling over the hill is enough to leave anyone cold, especially when your first wrinkles are beginning to show pre-thirtieth birthday. As tempting as it is to tell you to stop whining and take it like a man, there are, in fact, some things you can do to put the brakes on.

1. Moisturise
The single most important thing you can do to preserve your youthful good looks is to introduce a moisturiser into your daily routine – and if you don’t have a daily routine then now is the time to start. SPF is not just for summer holidays – in fact, you should be applying one every morning, without fail, in order to prevent those premature signs of aging beginning to show. Don’t be put off by the greasy feeling some might leave on your skin – nowadays there are plenty of matte formulas available to keep you shine-free – and your new habit off the radar. At night time, reach for a richer, more nourishing cream to feed and replenish the skin while you sleep.

2.Replace vices with virtues
They say beauty comes from within, and like it or not, the same applies if you’re a man who wants to remain handsome. Too much sugar in your diet will speed up the aging process more than you’d care to imagine, generating harmful molecules which damage collagen, in turn contributing to premature wrinkles. Swap that mid-afternoon doughnut for a green smoothie, as dark green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach will boost skin hydration and

While you’re at it, bin the cigarettes and cut back on the booze and burgers – too much sodium and alcohol will lead to puffy eyes thanks to fluid retention, while smoking has a negative impact on circulation, leaving you with those unsightly dark circles.

Both will make you look tired, not to mention older than your years, so if you must over-indulge then flush your system out with plenty of water to give those nasty toxins the old heave-ho. Sleeping on two pillows instead of one will also help to prevent those dark circles forming in the night, while applying a good eye cream under and around the delicate eye area will help to combat all such issues. Choose a cream containing caffeine to wake you up in the morning, and an anti-aging variety to repair and protect at night.

3. Give facial hair the chop
Keeping your facial hair under control will literally ‘shave’ years off you, so don’t scrimp on that morning grooming routine. 4.Look after your teeth

5. Hands on approach
Lifting weights and other manly pursuits can take their toll on your hands, leaving them dry, rough and calloused. Your mitts are the first part of the body to betray you when it comes to aging, so incorporate a good, heavy-duty hand cream into your routine to keep the years at bay.
