We caught up with Harry Osmond a local barber here in Plymouth and fired some quick shot questions at him, here’s what he had to say;
BBR: How long have you been a barber, what made you get into the industry?
HO: I’ve been barbering for about six/seven years now, I originally started out as a hairdresser as an apprentice but quickly realised men’s hair was what I wanted to go into. I have been lucky enough to work around some very talented people over the year’s which has got me to where I am today.
BBR: What’s the most important thing to you about being a barber?
HO: There’s nothing better than when a client comes in and leaves with a smile, to me barbering is a service in which you need to look after whoever is in your chair. Listening and trying to help them whilst also keeping them happy. When my customer leaves with a smile on their face or feeling better than they did, it then I feel I’ve done my job.
BBR: Tell me a little about where you currently work.
HO: I work in Lukas barbers in Plymouth, it’s more than a “barbers” we try to take care. It’s a big shop with plenty of room to be able to talk and be yourself. We offer a service to anyone wanting a haircut, whoever that is and we will always cater to the individual insuring they leave happy.
BBR: What’s your favourite Bluebeards Revenge product?
HO: It’s hard to choose just one favourite product from The Bluebeards Revenge, but I have been using the Sea Salt Spray massively and the Styling Putty. They’re always my go-to for all shaving needs but for hair they are my two most used products.
BBR: Do you have a favourite style/look you like creating?
HO: Coming from a hairdressing background, I absolutely love texture. I love nothing more than cutting a messy long crop or a haircut with a little bit of edge.
BBR: What’s your view on sustainability in the barbering industry?
HO: Sustainability within the barbering industry to me has become so much more of a focus point, it’s something that people want to get involved with and do their part to help and more and more people are growing into a passion.
BBR: If you could only use one product for the rest of your career, what would it be?
HO: I’d happily use Sea Salt Spray for the rest of my career.
BBR: Do you have any top tips that you can share with us?
HO: Using Sea Salt Spray as a pre-styler is a really good way of adding extra texture and hold before finishing with the styling product of your choice to complete the look.
