Looking a mess at the end of a workout is a given, and if you haven’t broken a sweat after a session in the weights area then chances are you could be lifting a bit heavier! But if going home and crashing is off the agenda afterwards and a day at the office is on, then you won’t want to leave the gym without making yourself look (and smell!) presentable first.

Here are our simple post-workout tips to get refreshed, looking your best, and ready to face the day – and all at a moment’s notice.

Cool Off
Failing to cool yourself down post-workout can mean you’re sweating again within minutes of stepping out of the shower. Before you even think about getting in there, the most important thing is to rehydrate. Choose cold, iced water if possible, which will help to get your core temperature down and stop the body from producing any further sweat. Blast yourself with a hairdryer while you’re at it – though on a cool setting, of course. This will help to evaporate any sweat that is still on the skin, cooling you down quicker than you can say “ice bucket”.

Power Shower
Time to jump in the shower now – and the colder, the better. Cool water will help to stimulate lymphatic drainage, further reducing your body temperature. It’s great for circulation, too – and if you’ve got a power shower, then even better.

Lather Up
Avoid SLS-laden shampoos and bodywashes while in the shower, which increase blood flow to the scalp. Instead, opt for soothing products like The Bluebeards Revenge Cooling Moisturiser and Post-Shave Balm, which will nourish an restore hot and bothered skin.

Be Prepared
A good anti-perspirant will put the brakes on sweaty pits – choose one with a good, manly fragrance like The Bluebeards Revenge Eco-Warrior, which is eco-friendly and lasts ages, too.

Good Hair Day
Avoid wet-look, high-shine styling products, as if you’re still feeling a bit hot under the collar then they can melt and leave your hair in a real greasy mess. Opt instead for matt products like The Bluebeards Revenge’s Matt Clay, which offers volume and texture without overloading the hair.

Freshen Up
Hopefully, you’ll be feeling energised and refreshed after a good workout and a shower, so choose a fresh and masculine Eau de Toilette to complement your mood – as well as the season. The Bluebeards Revenge’s Eau de Toilette opens with ozone notes accented by Sicilian bergamot and Ligurian basil, with a rich blend of jasmine, black tea and watermint. Rich base notes include Madagascan vanilla, sandalwood and patchouli – rounded off nicely with a good dash of oakmoss and musk.
