Former Royal Marine Commando turned entrepreneur donates £12,000-worth of products to the Royal Marines Charity.
Ahead of Armed Forces Day, a men’s grooming brand founded by a former Royal Marine Commando has announced a brand new charitable campaign, aimed at raising money for the Royal Marines Charities.
The Bluebeards Revenge – a barber-grade grooming brand based in Plymouth, Devon – was founded by former Royal Marine Commando David Hildrew in 2010. Since then, the brand has become synonymous worldwide for its high-quality shave, beard, hair and body products. In a new venture, these premium products are being donated to the Royal Marines Charity in a bid to raise more than £12,000 per year.
On the donation, Mr Hildrew, who served in the Falklands, said: “As far as I am concerned the mantra ‘once a Marine, always a Marine’ rings totally true. That is why it is my pleasure to make a positive, real contribution to the Royal Marines Charity, supporting my fellow brothers-in-arms. The charity’s team do a fantastic job in supporting Marines when they need it most and I am delighted that The Bluebeards Revenge is able to play a small part in this invaluable work.”
The products that Mr Hildrew donates are available to buy online or in-store from the official Royal Marines Shop. Based in Stonehouse Barracks, Plymouth, the Royal Marines Shop was initially set up to support the rehabilitation of injured Bootnecks. Today, its popularity has seen it grow into a business that is able to provide quality products and support to a whole range of serving Royals, veterans and their families.
“We pride ourselves on providing top-quality, Corps-related products to anyone that wishes to shop with us,” said the shop’s Office Manager Hayley Matthews. “We are a not for profit organisation and all the money raised goes to support our great causes. People choose us over other outlets to show their support and admiration for the Royal Marines.”
On the importance of Mr Hildrew’s donation, Miss Matthews added: “It’s great to get to know David and his team. As a former Royal himself, David is very passionate about helping in any way possible and understands the valuable work we’re doing. It is our hope that the brand now continues to see success through our website, helping to raise more funds for the Royal Marines Charities.”
